Delicious Fall Cocktails to Warm Your Spirits

Add these not-so-spooky seasonal spirits to your fall cocktail rotation

Sure, you love a pumpkin spice latte as much as the next person. But sometimes you crave something a little more spirited to live out your best fall life. Here are a few simple ways to add the sweet and spiced flavors of fall to your favorite cocktails:

Pumpkin Spice Liqueur

Now this is the grown-up way to enjoy pumpkin spice. Pour this combination of vanilla, cream and pumpkin into a martini glass and top with a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg for a belly-warming pick-me-up.

Pumpkin Spice Martini

Ingredients:

1 cup ice cubes

1 (1.5-ounce) jigger vanilla flavored vodka (such as Stoli)

1 (1.5-ounce) jigger Irish cream liqueur (such as Bailey's)

1 (1.5-ounce) jigger pumpkin flavored liqueur (such as Hiram Walker)

1 pinch ground cinnamon

1 pinch ground nutmeg

Directions:

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour vanilla-flavored vodka, Irish cream liqueur, and pumpkin-flavored liqueur over ice. Cover and shake until the outside of the shaker has frosted. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg.

Apple Brandy

Made with a blend of apples aged in oak barrels, apple brandy is a sophisticated take on fall’s favorite fruit, with a delightfully spicy flavor. This recipe is a twist on a traditional old fashioned – served, of course, in a vintage-style double old fashioned glass.

Apple Brandy Old Fashioned

Ingredients

4 dashes bitters

2 ounces apple brandy

2 ounces apple cider

1 teaspoon cinnamon simple syrup (recipe below)

Instructions:

Fill a rocks glass 2/3 full with ice. Add 4-5 dashes of bitters, then add the brandy, apple cider, and simple syrup. Stir to combine. Top with a splash of soda or club soda (optional). Garnish as desired.

Cinnamon Simple Syrup

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup granulated sugar

6 cinnamon sticks

Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; boil until sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat, add cinnamon sticks, cover and let cool.

Spiced Rum

The more complex cousin to traditional rum, spiced rum boasts deep and complex flavors courtesy of a blend of herbs and spices. This warm and comforting take on apple cider looks beautiful presented in an elevated Irish coffee mug.

Spiced Apple Cider

4 ounces apple cider

1 ounce lime Juice

2 ounces honey simple syrup (recipe below)

Dash cinnamon

Honey simple syrup

¼ cup hot water

Garnishes

2 thyme sprigs

1 apple, cut into matchsticks

2 cinnamon sticks

Directions:

Make the honey simple syrup. Add the hot water and honey to a mason jar and shake vigorously until the honey dissolves.

For the cocktail: Combine spiced rum, apple cider, lime juice, honey simple syrup, and cinnamon in a cocktail shaker or pitcher with ice. Shake or stir vigorously until chilled.

To serve: Fill two glasses with ice and matchstick apples. Pour the cocktails into glasses and garnish with sprigs of thyme and a cinnamon stick.

Amaretto

Did you know that sweet and nutty amaretto is made with apricots, not almonds? Either way, this deliciously silky liqueur lends major flavor to this apple fizz cocktail. We recommend serving it in a retro coupe glass for maximum sophistication.

Amaretto Apple Fizz

Ingredients

2 ounces amaretto

1 ounce orange juice

1 ounce apple juice

3 ounces Champagne or sparkling wine

Orange zest and thin apple slices, for garnish

Directions:

Add amaretto, orange juice, and apple juice to a cocktail shaker. Add ice cubes and stir gently to avoid losing the fizz. Pour into a coupe glass and top with more sparkling wine. Garnish with orange zest and a thin slice of apple.
